I can't believe how long it's been since I posted anything. It's been a busy year with work, home and family. My older sister (and only sister) has been battling ovarian cancer since 2006 (at the time she was 35). She has been doing well up until last year when her cancer came back and had to undergo a hysterectomy and aggressive chemotherapy for six months. I can't begin to tell you how strong my sister is physically and mentally. I don't know if I can be as strong as her. She's a fighter and I'm so proud of her. Watching her go through the ups and downs of chemo, the physical aspects of change (bloating, paleness and hair loss). We were so excited when she was approaching her final chemo session. Then the bomb dropped. The cancer had been growing on her liver and surviving, while she was getting this aggressive chemo. So, a couple of months ago, she had to have another surgery to remove part of her liver. And, it's not over yet . . . she will have to undergo more chemo.
To watch someone you love go through this is beyond words. You can be there physically and emotionally but at the same time, you feel helpless because you can't take the cancer away. You rely on hope and prayer.
I think about my blog name, "Inspiration for You and Me" and while I generally talk about house items that inspire us, I think about how my sister, Rose, has inspired me to be a better person. She has maintained such a positive attitude throughout this whole ordeal and has kept her faith. She makes me realize the important things in life; how precious life is; how not to worry or stress over the little things. She is my inspiration!
I found your blog on DecorPad. First and foremost, your sister story literally brought tears to my eyes. I know EXACTLY what it is like to have a loved one battling that disgusting ovarian cancer. I will pray for your sister - keep the faith and stay strong for her. :)
