Since we moved into our home in 2009, it has been a whirlwind of house projects. Each year, we target a new project(s). We all know how costly some projects can be. My husband decided to target a major project by himself! He added a fieldstone wall to our front yard. My husband is an engineer so making sure we were up to code and everything was leveled, etc. was a major plus!
The project started in August; having only the weekends to work on it and nice weather permitting. I'm so proud of my husband, John. All the neighbors and folks walking by were cheering him on each weekend. I'm sure they were excited to see the project come to life.
Next Spring we plan on planting stepables between the sidewalk and fieldstone.
Check out the pictures of this man's work. . .
Lawn was cut to the lowest setting to set the mark for the digging |
Digging begins. And the dirt pile rises! |
Fieldstone pallet |
Checking each time to make sure every thing is leveled along the way |
Liner and gravel all set. Now begins the torture of laying the fieldstone. |
Hard, manual labor |
Hardest part is putting the puzzle together and finding the right pieces |
Love this man! |
Fieldstone all in! Next Spring we will fill all this in with lovely stepables. |
