ROOMS THAT INSPIRE

Hope you enjoyed your weekend.  I managed to get a little Christmas shopping done; despite the fact that I pulled my back and suffered through the weekend.  I am so annoyed with my back that I kept pushing through most of my tasks; even though I was walking crooked and in pain.  And, fur baby, Monty didn't understand I couldn't play and run around the house with him.  But, still, I needed to get my house chores done and try to fit in a little Christmas decorating.  Hopefully, I can get an appointment with the chiropractor this evening.  I need to find some relief ASAP.

Moving on to a brighter and positive topic . . . interior design.  On this week's post, I'm sharing room designs by Elizabeth Metcalfe, of Elizabeth Metcalfe Interiors & Design.  Elizabeth's designs brings simplicity and comfort to the home.  Every room feels warm and comfortable and at the same time luxurious.  Elizabeth says, "A finished room may look simple, but it isn't simple to do."

For those of us who love to decorate our homes; if your like me, you think about the space, feel the space, how does it speak to you?  I say, by having key pieces of furniture, creating a color palette, layering a room with different textures and accessories is what makes a room.

Take a look at some of my favorite designs by Elizabeth Metcalfe.  From beautiful living rooms to luxurious bedrooms.  Oh, and the last picture has the most amazing fabric design on the back of a chair!

DECORATING IDEAS FOR THE HOLIDAYS

I'm sad to say, I haven't jumped on board with decorating for the holidays.  It's not that I don't want to, I've just been a little occupied and busy.  Between busy at work, commuting long hours, and spending every minute with my new puppy, I haven't been focused on decorating.  I need to dedicate some time next week to get into the holiday spirit.  I just can't believe Christmas is around the corner!

In the meantime, I'm enjoying some holiday decorating from others.  I hope to be inspired, to create a look for our home.

OUR EASTER TABLESCAPE

My color theme this Easter was inspired by the love of all the pastel colors out this season; in particular, the color blush.  Call it my secret garden theme (unfortunately, indoors).  I wanted to bring a garden theme indoors and make it inviting and serene.  If you're sitting at my table, you'll be captured by the pink blushes, creams, crisp whites and gold accents.  Let's discuss the details:

Let's start with the pink, polka dot napkins (found at HomeGoods).  It's the perfect soft blush color!  I decorated the napkin with pom poms, pink ribbon, and white and gold cross ribbon (all found at Jo Ann's Fabric).  The garden themed fabric was also purchased from Jo Ann's.  I searched and searched for a tablecloth or runner and couldn't find the right pink.  After searching through Jo Ann's, I found this beautiful fabric with soft colored, flowered petals and light blue dots.  I added this as a layer to my white tablecloth.  The gold flatware was purchased from One Kings Lane.

The small salad plates were found at Marshalls and the Hue Blush dinner plates were purchased at Crate and Barrel (on sale!)

Ceramic bunny (Crate and Barrel); Egg dish (Pottery Barn)

Ceramic Bunnies purchased at Williams Sonoma last year (after Easter sale). Ribbons added myself

Flower arrangement made by yours truly . . . flowers from Trader Joe.
They have the best flower selections and reasonably priced.

My DIY egg cup project (inspired by a design from Martha Stewart).
"Hi Martha, do you like my look?"

I really enjoyed putting this look together.  Hope you enjoyed the tour and I've inspired you to create a look of your own.

I'll end by wishing you and your family a Happy Easter!

DO YOU MONOGRAM?

Have you noticed the trend for monogramming?  Whether monogramming for the home or fashion, these decals are making a huge impact.  When I think of monogramming, I think of the older days; like a gentleman or a ladies handkerchief, a pair of cufflinks, or table linens.  Everything seemed more personal; had meaning of importance that could be past down to generations.

I love the look of anything monogrammed.  I think it creates a clean, polished and organized look.  I actually don't have anything monogrammed and need to!  I would love a set of monogrammed sheets or table napkins.

Take a look at some of my favorite looks.

Homme Signet Ring (Mark & Graham).  Such a classic look on a man.

Sonya Layered Charmed necklaces (Mark & Graham)

love this simple embroidered duvet with monogram - Ballard Designs.  Clean and simple! Perfect for a Spring/Summer look

Linen Hemstitch Guest towels - Pottery Barn

I'm loving these art deco inspired monogrammed dinner napkins from Julia B.  I could see these on my table (lol).

Monogrammed Wine Decanter - Williams Sonoma.  This would make a great host/hostess gift with a bottle of wine.

Monogrammed tray - Swoozies

Do you have anything monogrammed?  If so, share your looks.

CHRISTMAS TREE FOR 2013

Our Christmas tree is up . . . check!

I have to admit, what a nice feeling it is to come home, plug in the lights and admire the twinkling lights and shimmering ornaments.  Our tree is decorated in silver and gold with creams/white ornaments. I wanted to incorporate a minty color but had such a hard time finding ornaments in the exact color I was looking for.  I was able to incorporate a little bit of that color for my tablescape (which is currently in the works).  Stay tuned . . .

What's missing are the presents under the tree.  With my crazy work schedule (twelve hours a day, including commuting), I haven't had a chance to shop.  I need to accomplish that this weekend.  With all the wrapping paper I purchased, you would think I would show something (lol).  I honestly had one gift to wrap and didn't want to take a picture of one little, lonely present under the tree.

I might add and/or tweak the tree, but for now our tree is showing off it's look in our home.

Here are some close ups of these beauties . . .

Wishing everyone a nice weekend.
