Would Candice Olson say "how divine"?

So I've been a big fan of Candice Olson for years now. I love almost all of her designs. She has an amazing gift in designing rooms. I wish I had that gift. There was one episode (Julia and Mark's room, episode 409) that captured my heart. While the rooms (dining room/living room) were amazing, what blew me away was the wall color. She kept describing it as steel blue and metallic blue. After that episode I kept thinking about that wall color and had to find out what it was. I went on to the divine design blog and started asking viewers if they knew what color it was. Communication is a beautiful thing. Benjamine Moore, Yorktowne Green with Modern Masters platinum glaze. I sampled some boards and was ready to paint.

Here's Candice's design. . .

Here's our dining room . . .

What do you think?

  1. It's beautiful and the color IS so close to CO!

  2. do dah, do do do dah, dah dah dah dah dah dah daaaahhh

::singing Divine Design's theme song if you couln't tell::

I LOVE the jewel color of the wall and that glam chandelier is to die for! Candice would approve.

  3. Hi, I was looking for doing the same color as Candice. I looked on internet and it doesn't seem to be easy. Then I found your blog and your color is the closest one that I found. 2 questions in my mind: do you have smooth walls because mine are textured so I wonder if I have do something about it? Where do you buy your glaze? Excellent job that you have created. It's been more than a year now, do you still enjoy the color? Thanks for your tips, Melanie
