HOME ACCESSORIES: Current Favorites from West Elm

Hi!  Yesterday was a, much appreciated day off from work. I got the rest of my housework done, spent time with the dogs and tested some paint samples. We have plans to have our foyer and stairway painted. Still searching for the right color.

Onto today's post!  Last week, while reading through the latest issue of House Beautiful magazine, I came across "The Best" section and found the prettiest doorstop from West Elm.  I immediately searched online but it wasn't available . . . yet.  But, over the weekend, it popped up under their new arrivals (yay)!

I've put together a few of my favorites, including the doorstop (#7).  Anything marble has me hooked lately, as well as all the muted color tones.  A couple of weeks ago, I purchased the Mongolian lamb  pillow in the gorgeous blush color (#4 currently sold out in the 16").  West Elm always has the best selections when it comes to home accessories.   I have a collection of accessories, displayed throughout our home.

1.  Glass Leaf Chandelier.  I love the leaf details and vintage vibe of this chandelier.

2.  Round Stone Coasters - White/Gold

3.  Faux Shagreen Trinket Tray - Charcoal.  I purchased a beige colored one a few years ago. Happy to see it's still around.

4.  Mongolian Lamb Pillow Cover - Rosette (24") - (no longer available in the 16").  I was lucky enough to purchase a pair before selling out.

5.  Faceted Mirror - Emerald Cut.  I love the facets; reminds me of a piece of jewelry.

6.  Metallic Ikat Dot Pillow Cover - Platinum

7.  Deco Marble Doorstop.  This would be a perfect piece to add a bedroom or bath.

8.  Deco Marble Umbrella Stand.  Such a stylish umbrella stand.

9.  Belgian Linen Border Strip Sheet Set. These look so comfy and stylish.

What are some of your favorites?

FAVORITE FINDS: CB2

I recently browsed through the latest CB2 catalog and was excited to see many new products.  I love visiting their store; which is dangerously close to my job!  I find their price points, within reason.

Here are some of my favorite new items:

These colors are such a favorite of mine lately.
Classic colors of black and white with a touch of blush.

Belay dinnerware has a beautiful vein pattern in grey and black agains the white porcelain plate and pairs so beautifully with the blush salad plate.  I'm telling myself I don't need any more plates!

Hex Marble Boards would be perfect for displaying foods for your guest.  I could also see this displayed on your coffee table or night table in groupings of two or more

Setting your table with these Etch block print napkins is fun because of the different designs

How pretty are these Cylinder pink flutes.  Perfect for hosting a brunch, Valentine's Day dinner, Easter or Mother's Day table design

You can never go wrong with a round vase and this Fishbowl vase is large enough for large flower arrangement or a simple arrangement (as pictured above).

Accessorize your table, bookcase, or shelf with these Max Brass Sculptures

These Wadsworth Candle Holders in a matte white finish, make a statement in size and sculptural design.  To create a dramatic look, pair them in three.  On my want list.

Also, on my want list is this Fleck Vase to change up the decor in our home.

Organize in style with this Cooper Wire Storage Basket.

6 This Prismatic Glass Smoke Bowl is such a pretty design that can be use anywhere.

These Ansa Vases are unique with its handle design.  You can go with the white matte ceramic or glossy orange glaze.  These would go well with beige, black or navy.

8 Need to add some color this Spring? How cute is this aqua Hoth Candle Holder

1  Just like it's name, this Ravenous Print is dark and mysterious with shadow lines and effects.  So cool!  Artist is New York-based, Jordan Carlyle.

2  Sheepskin is back in style and I'm loving this Icelandic Sheepskin pillow (16").  Perfect for an accent chair.

3  Adding a lamp like this Stacked Marble Table Lamp will make an table look fabulous!

4  A modern interpretation of the classic diner stools.  These Reverb Bar Stools have a retro look. Perfect for a loft or city apartment.

5  A fun collaboration with School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), student designer, Brooke Collins, designed this Sling Nightstand for smaller-spaces.  I love it!  I call it a hammock for your home accessories (lol).  Great design!

Furniture

Here are some furniture pieces that caught my eye:

Simple and clean lines is what caught my eye on this Parlour Leather Chair.  I think something like this would look great in my husband's new office office.  The color is a little confusing.  In the picture below it looks more like a whiskey color, which I like.  I would have to see it in person.

Pretty in pink.  This hush of blush wing back chair (Suitor Chair) has softer lines than the classic wingback.  Looks deep and comfy; while still keeping it's gorgeous design.

Here's a picture of the chair in a room design.

Two looks for the price of one.  This Suspend Medial Console  gives the appears of a suspended look but it sits on a metal frame.

This console is a trio of looks:  wood, marble and metal.  It's the perfect piece for those who have to compromise, for those living with someone who's tastes are different than yours.  Designer, Ceci Thompson, you're a genius!  This piece of furniture makes everyone happy!

Here, styled beautifully with accessory pieces, that pull the whole look together. Love the herringbone look in the wood and who doesn't love a little marble.  LOVE!

And, there you have it . . . my favorites.  And, there's so much more!  Be sure to check out CB2 for the complete line of new products here.  You won't be disappointed.  I know where I'll be spending my lunch hour (lol)!

Happy Shopping!

INSPIRATION COLOR OF THE WEEK: SILVER

Here we are again . . . Monday; the beginning of the work week.  The most hated day of the week (for those of us to have to work on Mondays).  Well, I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  Yesterday was a beautiful day in New Jersey; perfect temperature.  I wish we had more days like that.  Mr. D and I enjoyed a dinner out with friends, Saturday night.  We ate at a popular barbeque place called Bailey's Smokehouse in Blauvelt, NY.  This place was packed and the food was a-ma-zing!  Definitely worth going back again!

Let's get this week started with today's Inspiration Color of the Week:  Silver.  It seemed only right to talk about silver since last week's color was gold (lol).  Even though gold tones have been making a comeback, silver is still strong.

Take a look at some inspirational photos where silver tones were incorporated in some amazing room designs and fashion looks.

Loving the silver colored wallpaper in this dining room, along with the silver accent lamps and nail head trim on these tufted chairs.

Taking center stage in this bathroom is the gorgeous silver, free standing tub!  The silver beveled mirror is the crown in this space.  Bubble bath anyone?

INSPIRATION COLOR OF THE WEEK: Gold

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend.  Yesterday was a beautiful Sunday; no humidity and warm, but pleasant temperatures.  I spent most of the weekend resting, after two back to back visits at the chiropractor's office.  They really worked my back; with massages, icing and an adjustment.  I welcomed the massages because my back is in so much pain.  They massaged so deep, I felt like some of my organs were being massaged as well (lol).  I can't begin to tell you how exhausted and thirsty I was after my appointments.  Rest was on the agenda for me this weekend and I embraced it!

But, not to disappoint my readers, I spent time working on some posts for this week.  So, for this week's inspiration color of the week, I'm talking about the color "Gold".  Have you noticed the popular trend for gold the past few years?  I'm loving the comeback and have incorporated some gold in my home and in my fashion accessories.

Take a look at some inspirational pictures for the home as well as some fashion trends.

INSPIRATION COLOR OF THE WEEK: MINT

How did it get to be Monday already?  The weekends always go by so quickly.  Hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the pleasant weather.

Onto another Monday series of "Inspiration Color of the Week".  I'm going to mix it up and not talk about classic colors (I pretty much covered all of them with the exception of one).  Today, I'm talking about the color mint.  This soft pastel tint of spring green brings to mind, images of spring, beautiful ocean beaches and plantings.

I love this color because of its simplicity and innocence.  It goes well with colors like: beige, gold, yellow, silver, cream, white, pink, navy, black, brown and gray.

Take a look at some inspirational pictures I created, as well as images from designers.

DESIGNER CRUSH: KELLY HOPPEN

Meet British interior designer (and Entrepreneur, Author and Educator), Kelly Hoppen.  What an amazing, talented woman.  Can you believe she started her business at the age of sixteen and a half!  I came across her work from a new magazine (new to me), purchased called Rooms.  Have you seen this magazine?  It's filled with designer spaces, inspiring ideas for you and I.  I'm sure I've seen Kelly's name or pictures of her designs, but didn't really acknowledge it until now.  If you've never heard of the Rooms magazine, below is a snapshot of the magazine cover (purchased at Barnes and Noble).

When designing, Kelly creates a sense of feeling in the home; more so than just the look of the home.  Kelly writes in her book, "Our homes are our greatest asset, not just financially but also for our sense of well-being and happiness."  So true Kelly.  One room she created blew me away!  Take a look at the room below.

How genius are those dining room chairs!  Love the crisscross design; so feminine and sexy
The chairs make such a statement in this room. I spotted the same design chairs seen in her book (different space), "Kelly Hoppen - How To Achieve the Home of Your Dreams".  And, just as an fyi, I'm loving this book!  It's not just pretty pictures.  She offers great advice and teaches certain principles to follow when designing a space.  It's such an informative book.  I encourage you to add this to your coffee table book collection, bookshelf or bedside table.

Here are some of my other favorite room designs:

London: The Art Lover's Apartment

This staircase and lighting fixture are jaw dropping.  I love how the light fixture takes the same shape as the staircase; while floating in the air
After heading up that gorgeous staircase, relax in this neutral palette bedroom.
London: The Loft

Tall wooden beams in natural toned woods, accented with neutral and ebony furnishings.  How fun is that hanging canopy chair!

Manchester:  The Modern Mansion

Another beautifully designed staircase
You can really entertain for dinner in this room
I'm guessing this is the media room.  Can you imagine snuggling up in one of these?
Wait . . . is this a bathroom?  I'm speechless
London:  The Townhouse

Simple, elegant and comfortable bedroom design.  Love the prints on the wall

Clean, white room with pops of green

Outdoors anyone?  Need I say more

To learn more about Kelly Hoppen, head on over to her website to see more (here).  And, that's not all.  Kelly has not one, but eight design books!  She also has an online shop . . . could you die right now?  While browsing her online store and making a wish list, I came across her home accessories which she refers to as, "home jewelry".  I love this woman!

Here are a few of her items I'm admiring:

Kelly Hoppen travel candles in Light Collection
Silver Ombre Vase
Indulgence Stone Bed Linen
Trimmed Small Oval Vase
Pinched Vase
Velvet Cushions
Flat Top Glass Bowl

I heart you Kelly Hoppen.
